“The connection I have with Mikey is unconditional. I don’t need to perform a certain way, and I don’t have anxiety about what he’ll think of me. To Mikey, I’m enough. An incredible moment shared between man and dog. Tonight at the @houstontexans v. @patriots game, @sullyhwbush, @valerievetdogs & Pierce Bush surprised Army Veteran Lukas Mori with his service dog Chestnut. Thank you to the Mori family for joining us for this special moment and to the @houstontexans for partnering with @americasvetdogs on making this happen! 🇺🇸❤️
Today marks one year anniversary of the passing of President George H.W. Bush - a day where the nation mourned for a great leader but found comfort in a special Yellow Labrador, @americasvetdogs Sully H.W. Bush. President Bush gave our nation a great gift in bringing to light the importance of service dogs to assist individuals with disabilities. 🇺🇸❤️ Pictured: Sully in a sit in front of the George H.W. America's VetDogs is a national nonprofit organization, and we are so #thankful for all of the communities we are involved in, especially our home of Long Island. Yesterday one of our volunteers, Jeff, and a black Labrador ambassador dog, visited West Hempstead High School to receive a donation of $1,000 that the students raised by selling American flags for their Field of Honor. Thank you, West Hempstead High!

When you realize Christmas is less than a month away 😮 Have you started your holiday shopping yet, or do you prefer to make your gifts? @nyislespup, Tori, was on campus for a class today, check out our stories to see a clip of her working with her raiser.
We're two days away from #Thanksgiving, and we want to thank all of our nursery & kennel staff who take such great care of our pups before they go out to our volunteer puppy raisers! From birth, our pups are socialized as much as possible so that they can become confident, friendly working dogs. We are always in need of home socializers in the Long Island area, visit Volunteer.VetDogs.org (link in bio) for more information 🐾
It's easy for us to find our #MondayMotivation when we watch this clip of a woman tearing up as she meets her VetDogs #servicedog for the first time. Close to two years of hard work goes into the making of this moment, and we couldn't do it without our incredible volunteers. Visit Volunteer.VetDogs.org (link in bio) to learn how you can get involved today.
"When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around." - Willie Nelson As #Thanksgiving week begins, we want to remind each and every one of you how thankful we are to have you in our community ❤️ America's VetDogs is a nonprofit organization that relies on the generosity of individuals to help us fulfill our mission to provide #servicedogs to veterans and first responders in need. Visit VetDogs.org to read more about our programs today. Pictured: a portrait of a black Labrador service dog in training lying in the grass on campus. The Willie Nelson quote has been added in white script text to the top left corner. Fun Fact: at just 17 years old, Nelson enlisted in the Air Force, serving until a back injury required him to resign.
"This morning I learned how to go down the stairs!" - VetDogs & @wbaltvpuppy, Brooks 🐾 We love watching Brooks learn alongside his big "brother", Harold, who is so patient ❤️
The holiday week is ahead, and we have some important travel tips to keep in mind for you and your pups! 🐾 You want to ensure that your schedule accommodates time for regular breaks. Plan to take a 15 to 30 minute break every 4 hours. You can also make very long trips more enjoyable for both of you if you plan stops at locations with pet-friendly attractions, even if it’s just a nice dog park. 🐾 Now that you have your route planned, you need to plan for lodging. Not all hotels accept pets, and even campsites often have restrictions. This may require contacting individual hotels in advance to find out their pet policies, including breed restrictions, rules, and possible fees. 🐾 When packing for a flight, be sure to place your travel-sized liquids in a quart-sized bag and any electronic devices larger than a cell phone, in an easily accessible area as they will need to be removed from your bag for screening. Liquids over 3.4 ounces are not allowed through security, however, the rule does not apply if you are traveling with liquid medications. Visit the link in our bio for more of our travel tips today.
