The main cause of people not trying something is because they’re afraid of failure. But how can you get better at anything if you don’t try??? I remember thinking to myself, “I wish i can be that strong”, so I made it my mission to be THAT strong. I couldn’t do 1 push up, not one pull up. I couldn’t squat past my knees. But I practiced until I could. I remember going to my first competition two years ago, sitting in the audience with admiration....I’ve been on stage 4 times since then. I know it’s difficult when you don’t even know where to begin, so here’s a few pointers on how to get started: Face those fears Leave your ego at the door Focus on commitment, not motivation Be the hardest worker in the room Stop the bullsh*t excuses Believe in yourself Stop relying on others to make sh*t happen for you Set a goal and stop at NOTHING until you get there TRUST THE PROCESS Side note: Stop thrusting your hips forward when performing any kind of squat variation. It took me years to get here. It took me 4 years to get out of depression, 8 years to stop smoking cigarettes. Stop thinking you can get changes overnight. When I made the decision that I wanted to compete again, I told myself that I wouldn’t drive myself crazy in the process. My coach @biggkd said “don’t kill yourself, we’ll do this slow and I’ll let you know when you’re ready” so we did just that. Slowly but surely I was chipping away. One meal at a time, One exercise at a time....all slow and controlled, all done with a purpose. That was started 5 months ago, something like 22 weeks ago and almost 20 pounds ago. Because of posts like these, my account was flagged and not many of you are seeing my posts. Before and after pictures goes against guidelines, “this can make users feel bad about themselves” as per Instagram. But I will post things like this anyway. Changing your body, losing weight, gaining weight doesn’t mean self hate. It’s actually the opposite. It’s just wanting to do better, feel better. Health, whether it’s physical or mental should be a top priority. And there’s nothing wrong with that. I remember when I first started my fitness journey, it had absolutely nothing to do with wanting to change my body. I was on a healing quest and I found a passion that set my soul on fire.
