“Crave the result so intensely that the work is irrelevant.” . To say I feel extremely blessed and grateful today, would be an outrageous understatement. . Today, I received notification that the publication my professor and I have been working on for quite some time, was published and I was First Author on it! Eeeekkk! 🤓 . I then received notification that an abstract myself and other colleagues submitted for presentation at Southeast ACSM was accepted and I will be presenting it in February!!📃 . As a Master’s student, I am over-the-moon ecstatic for these opportunities that have risen and thankful that I’ve had such an astounding support system that has guided me through this process. . Here’s to SEACSM 2020 and more publications!!!😃🤓

As this year’s Thanksgiving comes to a close, I can’t help but sit back and soak in the blessings and everything I’m thankful for today and every day. . My family, with whom I wouldn’t be who I am today without their never-ending love and support. . My friends, with whom I wouldn’t be where I am today without their support, advice, encouragement, and too many memorable moments to count. . My rock, the one who makes every day a perfect day and who pushes me to be a better version of me everyday and every chance I get. And best dog-dad to our little baby boy🐶 . My opportunities presented to me at USF and the opportunity to work with such an astounding group of individuals led by the one and only @billcampbellphd . This post doesn’t do my gratitude and thankfulness for all the people in my life and all the blessings I have justice, but I’m hoping it makes a dent. I also wish I had more room for more pictures😅 Happy thanksgiving everyone❤️

What’s stopping you from hitting your true potential? 😟 . I’ll be the first to admit that my barrier is fully mental and I don’t give myself enough credit for what my body can truly do. . Our bodies are capable of much more than we think. It’s our job to find what stops us, what’s hindering us, from uncovering our true potential. Today, I said byeeeee👋🏼 to that voice in my head saying that I couldn’t hip thrust over 200lbs. So here’s a new hip thrust PR at 225lbs for 7 reps🤙🏼 . During this upcoming time of thanks and the holidays, today is a day I am over-the-moon thankful for the hype team I have. Without them, I wouldn’t be lifting near the amount of weight that I am now or feeling as good as I do now. . So take some time today to tell your body “thank you”, discover what your barriers are, and make a game plan to kick those barriers in the butt! . So, ya had a tough day😫 . Anything that could have gone wrong, went wrong. You had a few bumps in the road. . What did you do about it? Did you let it just sink in and sulk about it or did you kick it in the face and say no way Jose!💁🏻‍♀️ What we do in times in adversity show discipline and dedication. . In times like these, show up for yourself. Not for your coach. Not for your friends. Show up for your damn self. This week, (even though it’s only Tuesday) has been a heck of week, but today, despite being hella busy, I showed up. Not only did I show up, but it was one of the best pull days I’ve had in quite some time💪🏼 . So don’t let a bad moment or a bad day get you down or define you. Go kick it in the face and keep going!🤙🏼

Celebrate yoself and pat yourself on your own damn back! 🤟🏼 . Celebrate all the wins. The small victories. The big ones. The rep PRs and the new 1RMs. The few pounds lost or the drop in pant size. Celebrate all the wins because, in the end, those little victories go a long way in getting you to your bigger goals! 🏆 . To demonstrate, here’s a 3-rep PR for bench. Bench is 💯 my weakest lift. With time, consistency, patience, and the motivation from my squad, I was able to hit this (and probably could have done more afterwards, tbh)💁🏻‍♀️ and be damn sure that I was hyped afterwards🙌🏼🙌🏼 . So, today, pat yourself on the back. I’m 100% sure you won today.

Happy Fri-YAY everyone!!😎 Let’s wrap up the week with some PROTEIN👏🏼 . The biggest question I get is a 2-part question: 1. How much protein should I be eating? 🤔 2. How do I eat that much protein?🤔 Welp, here’s the answer in 2-parts! 1. General pop should be eating at LEAST 0.8g per kg of bodyweight per day! Athletes should be eating at LEAST 1.2-1.6g per kg of bodyweight per day! 2. There are so many ways to get your protein in!🍳 Personally, I don’t get enough protein in my meals, so I supplement with a protein shake to top it off! Great sources include meat (chicken, beef, turkey are my personal faves), beans, eggs, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, just to name a few! . Protein is optimal for recovery, muscle strength, and muscle growth! ALSO, it can aid in fat loss! Protein is thermogenic, which means that it takes more calories to process and digest it, so EAT MORE PROTEIN. 💪🏼 . ALSO, my dearest friend Madelin is leading a study on the effects of diet breaks vs. continuous dieting on body comp and resting metabolic rate and I am HONORED to be working as a Nutrition Coach and Trainer for this study! . With the blazing🔥 temperatures recently, let’s talk 💦HYDRATION💦 Hydration is 🗝 to recovery and for overall bodily functions and health. With Florida being Florida🔥, we need to be extra cautious to make sure we get enough water on a daily basis, even without exercising🏃🏻‍♀️ The rule of thumb for water intake is half of your body weight in ounces. For athletes and those active, definitely add some to that number. Another good way to make sure that you’re actually retaining the water you drink, is to throw just a pinchhhh of salt in there! That awkward moment when you finish your sets and realized you forgot your sleeves🤦🏻‍♀️ . However! We grinded and crushed it today! Today’s workout, though cut short, was one of the BEST squat days I’ve had in a LONG time🏋🏻‍♀️ . Everyone has bad days. Bad days in the gym. In life. But it’s what you do with those great days and how you embrace and appreciate it that pushes you above the others. . Most importantly, if you only have a short time to workout, make the most of it and get it in!🏃🏻‍♀️ Your body will thank you for it down the road. Even the fitness professionals have days where the last thing we want to do is lift💀, but we rise and grind and feel 100% for it. . Now, go CRUSH TODAY and have a fantastic freakin Friday!👊🏼
