🤔I used to think that being ultra-shredded, eating perfectly all the time and not going out to social events was what I had to do to make me happy as I would have a great body.⁣ ⁣ But what I used to think was hard core, what I thought “I enjoyed” and made me happy was actually the complete opposite.🙅‍♂️⁣ ⁣ 👀I look back now and realise that it did not make me happy at all. I held myself back from any kind of fun and real enjoyment all in the pursuit of something I could never achieve as that fact is no matter what you achieve you always want more.⁣ ⁣ 🙌🏻So I try to take gratitude for what I have and enjoy myself along the way and be the best I can be.😀⁣ ⁣ I am in nowhere near as good of shape as I used to be but I am far happier and healthier now than I have ever been.💯⁣ ⁣ Don’t get me wrong I always want to be in good shape and look good but as far as being ultra-ripped, those days are long gone.⁣ ⁣ 👉It's not fun, healthy and it doesn't make you happy.⁣ ⁣ What is important to me now is enjoying my life, fiancee, training, family, food, friends, my health and whatever else there may be...⁣ ⁣ …And what also makes me happy is teaching people how to lose fat and transform their bodies so they feel better, happier and more confident with themselves, avoiding all the mistakes that I made along the way.👌🏻⁣ ⁣ To me this is happiness. Yet half an hour later, you’re reaching for a snack?⁣ ⁣ You may be stomach full but you are not satiated. ⁣ ⁣ If this is you, I challenge you to switch out some of your ‘diet foods’ to full standard versions.⁣ ⁣ Don’t get me wrong, the above foods are awesome to add volume to your food. Especially when you’re dieting, they can be so useful to increase fullness. It’s rare that you can be truly satiated when dieting. Today I got a comment that really annoyed me... 😒 I had posted about how I don’t have time to count calories and some guy says successful people never say, “I don’t have time” which is partially true, but when it comes to health and fitness... why not make it easy on yourself? Why should you count everything you eat? Who really has time for that? I use to when I was 16 and didn’t have a ton of stuff going on but now I’m juggling the everyday grind with mom life, love life and just a flat out busy life so I don’t have time to count everything I eat. Plus that led to an eating disorder last time I did it. So why go back to that? Why not just hack your body and figure out what works for you? It makes health and fitness way easier and when it’s easier you are more likely to stick to the journey. Right? Does that make sense? Or does everyone want to complicate life and add more bs to the daily bs? 🤣 I mean honestly! I’ve watched thousands of women worldwide who struggle sticking to their weight loss journey because it was too difficult. Once it got easier, they were able to stick to it. They were finally able to drop the stubborn 30lbs and actually keep it off with the method I use now. So my question is do you want things easier on your journey or do you want to keep diet hopping and ending with constantly starting over, binge eating or yo-yo dieting? So you’re in the gym, you’re “eating healthy” & you’re STILL not seeing the results you want. Here are 3 things you might be doing wrong: ⠀ ⠀ 1. OVER or UNDER eating. So let’s start with the first possibility (usually the case) This is always why i recommend tracking consumption w/ a food scale. sounds crazy, but it helps you see how much of what you’re putting into your body. You might be thinking you’re eating around 1800 calories when you’re actually eating around 2400 calories. this makes a big difference! When the serving size is 30g of gluten free granola, and youre pouring yourself 3 cups worth, that adds up! especially if you’re not accounting for it. Healthy foods have calories, carbs & fats too! Portion control is essential. ⠀ ⠀ You could be UNDEREATING too! Which CAN lead to fat gain/metabolism destruction/or a plateau in progress. SO, if you are undereating for an amount of time, your body will literally hit a wall, and begin storing your intake calories as “potential energy” aka FAT. b/c it doesn’t know when it will need to use it. Your metabolism slows down to stop burning calories because your body isn’t GETTING enough calories to even BURN calories! SO, if you are/have been eating ANYTHING UNDER 1400 calories for an extended amount of time, THIS IS WHY YOUR PROGRESS MIGHT BE LACKING! You need energy to burn energy! Food is not the enemy. ⠀ ⠀ If you think EITHER of these situations might be you, i encourage you to accurately track your intake for a solid week. take a real look at your calorie consumption and make changes as necessary. ⠀ ⠀ 2. You might not be working as hard in the gym as you think. CALLED OUT! but really, just because you step INTO the gym does not garuntee you progress. I ALWAYS use the “UNTIL FAILURE” approach. Which means, every set i do, i do until failure. If i can hit the rep count and my muscles are not failing, i need to UP that weight! This allows muscle fibers to be broken and rebuilt which builds muscle. MUSCLE BURNS FAT, so don’t be scared of it! ⠀ ⠀ 3. consistency. Progress takes time! You can’t expect a 6 pack in 6 weeks! Be in it for the lifestyle, not the quick fix. ⠀ ⠀ Comment which number you need to focus on👇

So when I saw this post from Martin 'Nutrition' MacDonald, I had to share it... This is what he has to say on the matter: "what needs to be addressed is the fact that pockets of the ‘health’ & fitness industry are indeed hurting people. ⠀ With their rigid dieting strategies/messages. ⠀ And their #cleaneating messages and calling foods #toxic or #addictive ⠀ Literally hundreds of people who attended my talks were happy to publicly admit how previous rigid strategies, that regularly demonised certain foods or macronutrients had led them to disordered eating behaviours. ⠀ Rigid strategies are linked to bingeing, mood disturbances & LESS fat loss time and time again in the research. ⠀ During my tour talk I said something off the cuff that ended up being seemingly profound. ⠀ 𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐎𝐍 𝐚 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐞 𝐎𝐅𝐅 𝐚 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧. ⠀ This goes for ‘flexibly dieting Calorie counters too’. ⠀ Just because you’ve learned how to fit chocolate into your diet because you know what a Calorie & ‘macros’ are… ⠀ Doesn’t make you ‘without risk’. ⠀ So many people come to me with anxiety around situations where they can’t accurately track their Calories. ⠀ That isn’t flexible. ⠀ That isn’t living! ⠀ I can’t give you all the answers in one post but my message here is simple. ⠀ Try to get away from the mentality of having a ‘plan’. ⠀ Start thinking about the way you want to LIVE ❤️ ⠀ You do NOT have to pick a particular Calorie deficit and stick to it. ⠀ You do NOT have to be low carb OR low fat OR an intermittent faster. ⠀ Being any one ‘thing’ stops FLEXIBILITY. ⠀ Your life is multiphasic, your nutrition should be the same. ⠀ Your life is multifaceted, a dieting journey should be too." I would make this my “meal plan” and try to follow it perfectly because I thought that if they eat this way and look hot AF🔥 I would be able to look just like them too if I ate them the same foods!🤷🏼‍♀️ No joke the first few days I would do a great job at following them to a tee, but then I would get to the point where I was STARVING or ran out of certain foods and it was just a pain in the ass for me😭⠀ .⠀ Not to mention… while following these plans I couldn’t go out to eat!🌮 I remember when all my sorority sisters in college invited me to one of my fave restaurants in collegetown, but I had to say “no” because I was trying to follow my meal plan perfectly. What was I thinking!?😫⠀ .⠀ This is exactly why when I became a registered dietitian I promised myself I wouldn’t just write meal plans for the babes I work with. Meal plans are full of shit. YES I said it! Anyone can follow “instructions” aka a meal plan on a piece of paper, but that doesn’t mean you actually know how to eat to lose weight👯‍♀️ and are confident about your choices🙌🏼 Following a meal plan is also super restrictive, and no joke I believe the more you follow them the worst your social life gets👏🏼⠀ .⠀ I work with babes just like you that are social🍻 so instead of ONLY giving you a strict meal plan to follow I teach you how to balance your plate and identify appropriate portion sizes so you aren’t tied to just eating the same thing every day🎉Nutrition should be FUN which is why my clients have amazing social lives and still lose weight. Today I would be worthless in comparison to myself a few years ago. ⁣ ⁣ That’s not to say you can’t get lean, you can’t feel good and you shouldn’t want to diet. But your worth? That doesn’t change.⁣ ⁣ And you can’t hate yourself in to getting the body you think you want. THE RISK/REWARD OF FOOD & HOW WE TALK ABOUT CONSUMING IT (FOOD PSYCHOLOGY) ⁣⁣ ⁣ 🤓 I want you to think about something for a moment. Everything we consume (music, thoughts, food, ideas, etc.) could be applied to a system of risk/reward & how consumption of it affects our overall health & well-being. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ For the sake of this post, and because we all have the common need of eating to survive, let’s focus on food.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🍎 Everything we eat & the portion sizes we eat it in matters, whether we are open & honest with ourselves about that or not. It matters. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ There is a parallel in how we feel about ourselves and how we respond to those feelings with food. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 👎🏼 So, when we think poorly about ourselves, we often tend to eat poorly, treat ourselves poorly, and feel poorly about our quality of life. This trap will suck you in (IF YOU LET IT)!⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 👍🏼 However, when we practice thinking better thoughts about ourselves, we naturally make more conscious choices when it comes to food & how we treat ourselves, and as a result, WE FEEL BETTER! (We are all born with a desire to live our life from this place). ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ FACT 👉🏼👉🏼 WHEN WE FEEL BETTER (KNOW BETTER), WE DO BETTER. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🤔 Think about this: How often do you say “I don’t care” or “EFF IT” when grabbing for food you know don’t really need, or aren’t really hungry for??⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ All the time, sometimes, often, never??⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Let me guess, it happens the MOST when you’ve had a bad day, something stressful happens, or you are breaking the rules of a shitty restrictive diet??⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🤯 You: Holy Shit Kels!!
