Another day at the gym. Ran 1.5 miles benchmark for 15 minutes. Man running on treadmill is just so lame and boring! But after, it was chest and biceps day. 5x4 top set at 215lbs. Attempted one rep max. 225lbs felt really easy, moved fast. 235lbs was definitely challenging. Decided to stop there to prevent injury. Remember kids, better to be save with good form the. To lift with ego and injure yourself.

You ever have one of those moments where you are undeniably aware that #yoga has worked its magic on you? I’ve had a few moments in the last 8 years since I began my #yogajourney but one in particular happened this morning. I’ll spare you the details and just say this: this morning while getting coffee I was verbally attacked by a man for absolutely no valid reason, and to make matters worse he attacked me about my appearance, which was completely irrelevant to what he was irrationally upset about. I’m not even going to lie: It hurt me. I felt violated. I had to hold back tears. My ego wanted to fight back. My initial response was to react and hurt him back. But instead I stood there silently and let him walk away... mostly because I was in SHOCK but also because I realized quite quickly that his outburst had zero to do with me, and everything to do with him and where he is at; hurt people hurt people, ya know? As I watched him walk away I acknowledged that the old me would’ve fought back guns blazing, but me now knows my energy is precious and he just wasn’t worth it. Now I’m also not saying don’t stand up for yourself- you should most definitely do that... but know what’s worth your energy and what isn’t! Let me be clear, I am not sharing this for applause or a pat on the back (I’m not innocent I definitely replayed the scenario in my head a dozen times imagining what I could’ve said back 😂) but more so as a reminder that our words matter. The way we react and respond to people matter. You never know what someone is going through and it’s important to know that we affect everyone we come in contact with. Be kind to one another. CHILL THE F**K OUT. A parking spot is not that important. Getting through the line at the store faster is really not that important. Your morning coffee, it isn’t life or death. The way you treat others: now that’s important. #namastshay
