At times, it's only 15 min of Sun Salutations in the morning, at times, it's a badass 90 min Vinyasa practice in a hot studio. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But yoga ever day - oh yeah! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A happy body = a happy mind = a happy soul - a happy and proud me!🥰 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It's a fantastic way to slow my mind down before meditation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The silence I experience during my practice allows me to listen deeply to my body and be fully present for it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ >>> Interoception is our sixth sense, our natural ability to listen to our body's messages. It has now been scientifically proven yay! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Practising interoception is a first step to becoming more intuitive and to be able to self-heal.😇 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If we listen closely to our body's messages, then we can pick up the early signs of illnesses and act in consequence, resting before it hits us badly. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🤓 Isn't that fascinating? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Interoception is what allows us to feel hungry or thirsty. That'd be the most obvious language of our body. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But if we take time to cultivate this sense, then we can really get super deep and observe even the most subtle changes happening. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ To me, yoga is the best way I have to boost my interoception. Well....here we go again 🤗 ............👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 . 12 weeks pregnant with Jax Vs. Now 12 weeks pregnant with our next little bundle ❤️❤️ April 2020 - let’s do this!!! . Yup - this is happening and We couldn’t be more excited to continue to grow our family! Jax seems pretty stoked for his new workout buddy!!! . This was a hard secret to keep as I feel that what they say about your second showing much quicker is true. I’m sure some of my clients (who I haven’t already blabbed the news to b/c I’m the worst at keeping secrets that I’m excited about lol) were getting a little suspicious that maybe their trainer was enjoying more doughnuts than she admits too? Lol! . My body is changing and I’m totally OK with it! I’m excited for another pregnancy journey and too see how my body reacts to this time. . Over the last 12 weeks I have felt my strength and energy levels much lower than normal, but one of the only things (other than lots of sleep) that kept me feeling good was exercise (as with anything I have gone through in life) It’s what I remember about my last pregnancy and it remains true in this one. I kept my body moving as much as I could, kept up with my strength training, continued to eat healthy (80-20 rule as I usually live by #healthybalance) and at almost 13 weeks I’m feeling pretty good. Energy levels are slowly coming back and I’m excited to enter this second trimester. . 2020 is going to be a great year! Tonight's easy throw together after work dinner. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Having prepped ingredients makes this nourishing meal simple to whip up within 15 minutes. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Yesterday I made kabocha squash in the oven, and pre chopped a bunch of garlic to add to meals. Such a few small things like this make a HUGE difference in prep time today. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ On my plate today I have:⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ - kale sautéed with garlic⁣⁣⁣ - roasted kabocha squash⁣⁣⁣ - tamari grilled tofu⁣⁣⁣ - avocado⁣⁣⁣ - tahini on the side⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ What's on your plate for dinner? Here are some tips on how you can improve your chances of reducing the sweet stuff. 1. Start by making a list of all of the products you eat and drink that contain sugar. 2. Identify the products that you’ll miss the most, and the ones you can’t live without right now. 3. Every day, remove one of the items from your list until all that remain is the one or two foods or beverages you love the most. If you adopt this approach, you’ll find it far simpler to finally let go of that cookie that you can’t think of living without. Start where you feel comfortable. And if anything, begin by tossing out any beverages containing sugar. That's exactly how it should be!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The simpler & easy-to-follow you can make your nutrition & exercise plan, the better.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Quick Note 📝: although this is a "rule," you don’t need to live or die by it...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Doing so will just have you stressing about unnecessary stuff like, “wait, is this in the 80%?” or “oh no! I’m only at 75% whole foods today!” 😱⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Instead 👉 think of it as a reminder that MOST of your food choices should be coming from healthy whole foods.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Perfectly nailing "80%" and "20%" every day isn't realistic...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There will be times when it's easier to go above 80% whole foods or when it's difficult to stay under 20% with "fun" foods.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For example, say you're going out to a bar with friends on Friday...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Chances are, you'll end up taking in a buttload of calories from "fun" foods like hot wings and beer.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ That’s totes okay!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Why? Who else has a pair of Nike Pro’s because it’s all you saw @kayla_itsines wear back in 2015?⠀ ⠀ Yepp, right there with you! Well funny story about these shorts. I bought them at Dick’s on sale in my size (M) one day without trying them on. Didn’t think twice because all my Nike Pro’s that are leggings are the same size and fit perfectly. Only difference? These have like 2/3 LESS fabric. ⠀ ⠀ Well duh, they’re shorts! But I didn’t think the same size, from the same brand would make me feel any different. Boy, I was wrong! I put these on and felt like a whale immediately!! I told myself, one day we’ll wear these and feel good about my panda thighs (this is what I call them!)⠀ ⠀ After so long, I really believed I would never be able to wear these. I really believed that I would just have to give them away and give up. I really thought there is no way my Latin child bearing hips are ever going to feel comfortable in these things. Well let me tell you, I did not feel like a whale. I felt like a beautiful dolphin!⠀ ⠀ Did I workout alone at home in them, yes! Did I feel comfortable enough to go out in public in them, I’m getting there. Did I still record my daily “workoutrecap” and post it on my stories to share with the world, absolutely, because I’m PROUD AF! ⠀ Some days, I only see my flaws. Some days I only see my triumphs. This is was a day that I felt like my motivation met my self-doubt and said, “you can sit with us, cause you ain’t holding us down anymore.”⠀ ⠀ Cheers to you all for keeping me accountable enough to wear these blue Nike Pro’s. Loved hiking to the top of Hawk Mountain yesterday with my boys. Even better, loved that I planned to get a Raindrop Massage today! 💆 . . . It’s like I knew I’d need a little muscle support. It’s been a while since I shared my journey with #anaplasmosis after coming down with it last Memorial Day from a tick bite in my backyard. Well... friends... I found another tick on my leg right before we left for Denver a week and a half ago. . . . I was literally frozen in fear as I stood in the shower examining my body and felt it. Not again!!! I was so upset with myself for running outside, barefoot for a few minutes to cut fresh flowers for our neighbor before finishing packing. 5 whole minutes. Our own backyard. Not again!! . . . Why didn’t I put any repellent on? Why did I have to go cut the flowers? Thankfully, this time, there hasn’t been a hospital visit. This time, no fever. This time, no fatigue. This time, only minor aches. This time, no fainting. Guys- I am SO freaking thankful. This time- I got a Raindrop massage ASAP. I ❤️ this September sun ☀️! It is the perfect place to chill for a bit this afternoon. Moments like this don’t come often but they are treasured and a great way to recharge for the week ahead. . I have to admit sitting like this doesn’t come naturally to me. I’m tempted to go on to the next thing, but there is always more. I have to make a conscious choice to sit, be still and just be. I’m learning to embrace the moment. It is getting easier and it never lasts long (as I typed this my kids interrupted me about 5 times!😂)! . Give yourself permission to rest. Rest is good.
