My Mission President said, "Elder, by the end of this interview if you still want to go home, I'll get you on the 1st flight back home." I wanted to go home because of my homesickness. After speaking with President Miles I decided to stay. During that interview, I saw the picture of President Monson on his wall. It reminded me of his signature when I opened my mission call and made me realize what I decided to serve. It helped me to stay but it wasn't easy since I still needed help. For almost a full year I was homesick and nothing helped. I diden't think that my homesickness would be a huge problem since I had been away from home before. After the MTC, the very first day I walked into my apartment I saw a letter that my parents sent and it hit me all at once. I've prayed so many times about finding relief and studying scriptures when I came across a passage in Hebrews 10:35-36 where it says "Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise." That single passage had more of an impact than I can ever imagine for me to improve. I had so many spiritual moments on this mission. One thing that I love is fast and testimony meetings on Sundays. It fills my heart with joy seeing people get up and sharing their own stories, beliefs, and faiths. With each testimony, I would feel the spirit grow stronger. It's difficult not to cry sometimes. I love sharing my love with the people there and listing to the cool experiences and love that I feel from other people. Sharing their love of Christ with everyone, that's what we do as missionaries. Inviting the spirit and feeling the spirit testify. My mission will officially come to an end at the end of August 2019 and I'm so grateful for my experiences here and will be very sad to leave the Calgary Mission. This time last week I did the thing. I made a big giant step, hand in hand with heavenly father. Mormon leaders have always changed Mormon doctrine in the church that claims Jesus is the head and the church is restored to its fullness and Gods laws cannot change. Why then do Mormon leaders always change how they want the church to be when they take over to business? So many changes to doctrine, temple ceremonies, book of Mormon, tithing, etc..... why would Jesus need to constantly change to be more profitable or more popular when the masses don't agree with something? #thejudgedmormon #mormon #bookofmormon #ldsmemes #memesdaily #ldsdaily #churchofjesuschrist #thechurchofjesuschristoflatterdaysaints #jesus #christ #god #prophet #imamormon #exmo #postmormon #exlds #ldsmissionary #ldsconf #ldsmom #exmormon #saltlakecity #templesquare #utah #byu #byui #provo #mormonmemes #generalconference

Hi Group, In Mormon 4:1-9, (363-375 AD.), vengeful Nephite armies went up against the Lamanites and were driven back, and badly beaten. The Lamanites captured the city of Desolation, and took Nephite prisoners. Many were slain and the Nephite armies took refuge in the city of Teancum. The Lamanites tried to capture the city of Teancum but the Nephites pushed them back and eventually retook the city of Desolation, boasting again of their own strength. Thousands were slain on both sides. In V10-15, the Lamanites returned to battle against the unrepentant Nephites. According to Mormon, "it is impossible for the tongue to describe,...the horrible scene of the blood and carnage." (V11). There were many continuous wars between the Lamanites and Nephites, revealing that both sides delighted in bloodshed. The Lamanites recaptured the city of Desolation, and captured the city of Teancum, where they sacrificed Nephite women and children to their idol Gods. The Nephites retaliated with vengeance and eventually drove them out of their lands. In V16-23, the Lamanites waged war again, and from that time forward, the Nephites fell in great slaughters and were "swept off...even as the dews before the sun.” (V18). Mormon, knowing the Lamanites were about to overthrow the land, took up the sacred records from the Hill of Shim, in order to preserve them. Application today? Mormon declared, “It is the wicked that stir up the hearts of the children of men unto bloodshed." (V5). Why were the Nephites and Lamanites constantly stirred up into pridefulness, aggression, vengefulness, and ultimately, bloodshed? Elder Marvin J. Ashton stated, "If Satan can succeed in creating in us habits of arguing, quarreling, and contention, it is easier then for him to bind us with the heavier sins which can destroy our eternal lives." (April 1978). The Savior taught, "He that hath the spirit of contention is not of me, but is of the devil." (3 Ne. 11:29). We retain the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and the protection of the Lord, by being ever vigilant in purging contention from our lives. May we strive to do so. With love, Dawna

‘Seeking Knowledge by the Spirit’ - by Elder Mathias Held . With everything going on in the world - and even on our doorstep - this quote really stood out to me . We need to seek the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost in order to get through this challenging mortal state . That would probably be a good self assessment : . “What more can I do to qualify for the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost?” . A few thoughts that come to mind are: . 👉🏻 repent quickly and honestly . 👉🏻 worthily partake of the sacrament so we can “always have His Spirit to be with (us)” . 👉🏻 invite the Spirit into our lives through daily prayer . 💡Have you got any ideas of how we can have the Spirit more in our lives? . . . . #lds #mormon #bookofmormon #sharegoodness #imamormon #latterdaysaints #thechurchofjesuschristoflatterdaysaints #ldschurch #ldsquotes #comefollowme

MOM TEARS. You cried at kindergarten drop-off and those mama bear tears came flooding back 13 years later ... on a college campus. WHAT IS HAPPENING? You’re not alone. The CONFUSION is the high school drop-off in between. You braced yourself for the newfound independence in a not-yet-formed teenage brain and then nearly pushed them right out the door - along with their attitude. Why are the tears back? Because Mom you’ve done such a great job that you’ve worked yourself out of a job. It means you’ve built up your human knowing that someday you could walk away from your project and everything would continue running normally without a hitch. Well mostly. That human project will continue running, but will do things differently. Put their own spin on it. Make decisions that’ll curl your toenails. But it’s their own journey. New lessons for them to learn. New lessons that you’ll also learn - watching them from a distance. EMBRACE THE TEARS. They tell a story. Molecules of memories. Different seasons of life all tied together with one binding and powerful thing. UNCONDITIONAL LOVE ❤️

Hi Group, In Mormon 3:1-14, (360-362 AD), ten years had passed since the Lamanites had come upon the Nephites in war. Mormon fortified his people for further battles. As per God’s command, Mormon preached repentance and baptism, and tried to rebuild the church. Mormon’s words were in vain, for Nephites denied that it was the Lord who had spared them. The Lamanite king declared war which began in the city of Desolation. The Nephites won the battles and boasted of their own strength. They swore to avenge their fallen people and destroy the Lamanites. Refusing to lead his people in a vengeful, wicked war, Mormon poured out his heart to the Lord. His prayers were in vain because of the hardness of the people’s hearts. In V15, the Lord declared to Mormon, “Vengeance is mine, and I will repay; and because this people repented not after I had delivered them,...they shall be cut off from the face of the earth." In V16-21, Mormon obeyed God and refused to fight a vengeful war with the Nephites. He stood as a witness of what he had seen and prophesied, through the Spirit, of things to come. Mormon testified to future Gentiles and the 12 tribes of Israel, that all people will be judged, according to their good or evil works, and stand before the judgement seat of Christ. Mormon testified of Jesus Christ, and exhorted all to believe His Gospel, which would be among His covenant people in the latter days, and would provide the "other witness" of Christ. (Book of Mormon. See: V21 and 1 Ne. 13:20-41, 2 Ne. 25:18). Application today? In V22, Mormon exhorted, "I would that I could persuade all ye ends of the earth to repent and prepare to stand before the judgment-seat of Christ." Now, not later, is the time to prepare to meet God. Pres. Russell M. Nelson stated, "We live to die and we die to live in another realm. If we are well prepared, death brings no terror. From an eternal perspective, death is premature only for those who are not prepared to meet God." (April 2005). May we prepare with renewed diligence. With love, Dawna
