"I'm so sorry" said the nurse over the phone. Our second embryo transfer had failed and I sobbed, my tears muddying my cellphone cover. I had this $1600 Marchesa Notte dress from Rent the Runway for an upcoming party (much thanks to @_denizgurbuz_ for the hookup). I grabbed my Louboutins, the ones worth $1200 retail that I found at Nordstrom Rack for $250. I grabbed hubby and went outside to dance in the snow. The snow had stopped. But he captured some of the prettiest photos I got of myself last year. You can't tell how much grief I'm feeling. I knew then that while it made little sense, this frugal #findjoy moment was what I needed to prevent myself from spiraling. A lot changed in one year, but it was not up to me. I can trace my own efforts impacting my financial and career success, but when it comes to creating life, I had no control. #infertility does not discriminate. There is no genetic cause or marker, it can hit people who are healthy, sick, of all ethnicities, it does not matter. I never felt as helpless and fully reliant on God as I did going through my months of #ivf. God gave life to the last embryo that we had left, implanted two months after this photo was taken. BB had a sibling embryo with him too but that one did not make it. And every time BB cries with all his might I'm reminded that the power of his lungs came from his will to survive. He came into this world with eyes wide open and a piercing cry, ready to take on the world. God gave me a village of warrior mom friends in #nyc who have surrounded us with #love, support, advice, food, gifts, and so much more. I write mostly about self made #success on this Instagram but I want to lift up and acknowledge some things are truly miracles, and that the human spirit and the human experience is what this is all about. Who you are is what makes your life beautiful. Remember your #IGetTo and may you find a dance of your own. #ivf #ivfbaby #ivfwarrior #pregnancy #ttc #motherhood
Why is it important to know the time of ovulation ? ⏰ 🗓 After ovulation, the egg survives for approximately 24 hours, which means that a woman can get pregnant only once in the month. Therefore, it is extremely important to ascertain the time of ovulation.🤰 👶 With over 3 decades of experience, we at Gynaecworld completely understand a woman’s world and are here to look after the medical hurdles that come your way. . . Never giving up.
While the process of retrieving eggs from your ovaries may seem intimidating, it’s actually a fairly common procedure with minimal side effects. ⠀ ⠀ Most women retrieve eggs for one of three reasons:⠀ 1. undergoing #IVF⠀ 2. freezing eggs for personal use in the future⠀ 3. donating eggs for someone else⠀ ⠀ No matter the reasons, the process follows the same basic timeline: ⠀ ⠀ The woman prepares by taking fertility-boosting meds for about 2 weeks, heads to the hospital for egg retrieval, then spends one day recovering.⠀ ⠀ Here’s a little more detail. ⠀ During ovulation, our ovaries release 1 mature egg into the fallopian tube, where it awaits fertilization. But with egg retrieval, doctors try to gather as many mature eggs as possible during a single ovulation cycle.⠀ ⠀ So how do you get the ovaries to develop more than one mature egg? ⠀ ⠀ To start, you would undergo testing to determine your egg count. After, Hormone levels in the blood and ultrasound findings on the ovaries are analyzed and a medication protocol is created specific to you to get as many eggs to develop in unison as possible. ⠀ ⠀ Next, you’d take self-injectable fertility medications for about 1.5-2 weeks. Doctors will monitor your response to the medication with ultrasounds and blood work. When enough ovarian follicles develop mature eggs, you’ll be instructed on when to take one last “trigger shot” 36 hours before retrieval, which encourages the body to release the eggs.⠀ ⠀ During the egg retrieval you’ll be given a mild sedative through an IV. After sedation, a vaginal ultrasound is conducted and the doctor will insert a needle through the vaginal wall into the ovary. The needle goes into each ovarian follicle and uses gentle suction to pull out the fluid and the egg that comes with it. This fluid is given to the embryologist, who can tell how many eggs have been retrieved. Typically, doctors harvest about 15-20 eggs. ⠀ ⠀ Once the procedure is finished, about 30 minutes later, you’ll be placed in a recovery room for about an hour, then head home with your designated companion to rest! ⠀ ⠀ So what are the risks? ⠀ ...yes, like anything, there is risk involved. ⠀ ⠀ (Continued in comments)
“If I save up all my money and give it to you, then will you be able to have a baby?” She asked me why I haven’t had a baby yet. I explained that we might have to do a procedure called IVF that is really expensive. And this was her solution. 💜😭 And of course I cried when she said that. I sure love this sweet girl! . . #infertility #infertilitysucks #infertilityjourney #IVF #prayingforbabyhoffman #niece #auntie #familysupport #selfless #love #generous #giving #sweetgirl

Thank you for all the out pouring love and congrats!! We are so beyond excited for the next steps in our surrogacy journey! Beta 1: 773 Beta 2: 2429 We more than doubled, which means we scheduled our first ultrasound!! Like what?!?!?! It feels so crazy that we are even here! Whew deep breath!!! I’ve honestly had a lot of people message me with concerns and cautioned me about sharing too much on social media too soon. So, I would like to take a minute to address that... While we are very thankful for the concerns, we understand there is always a downside of social media. With that said, we have an overwhelming amount of love and encouragement from family, friends, and followers that we want to share our journey with. Infertility is lonely, dark, painful and downright stupid depressing! I completely understand the precautions that go along with any pregnancy, more so the risks with embryo transfers and surrogacy. I get it, but I believe that with so much loss, we deserve to celebrate the victories, no matter how big or small. So here is our first official “bump” pic!!! No matter what happens during our journey we will continue to share the good, the bad, and the absolutely magical!! #ourjourney #firstbumppic #surrogacy #surrogacyjourney #surrogacysupport #infertility #infertilityawareness #infertilityjourney #infertilitysupport #ivf #ivfjourney #ivfsupport #ivftransfer #ivfpregnancy #intendedparents #intendedparentsupport #ourbunheroven #frozenembryotransfer #embabies #1in4 #1in8
2nd Beta is tomorrow and let me tell you.. yes the first numbers were amazing 1st beta! But I’m close to dreading going in tomorrow ... I don’t think I can handle a 3rd time of hearing “well your levels were this ... but now they’re only at ...”. Years back.. I didn’t really know about HCG levels, believe it or not. I was young and pregnant and was so naive to worry about anything. Because in my culture, growing up, it was always “you’ll meet someone, fall in love, care for him, and birth as many children and raise them all”. No one in my family ever experienced an infant loss and not even a pregnancy loss (and if they did. I’m the only one who was open about it). I fear of experiencing a 4th loss... 4th heartache... a 4th time of everything I dreamed of snatched away from me. I will never say oh this is worse than this trust me, because everyone’s pain is different.. IVF isn’t easy at all. But for me, pregnancy and after will probably have me going 10x crazy nervous. I was literally feeling something this morning and thought I was bleeding ... it was just discharge. 🤦🏽♀️ But my mind is just wired to think “It’s going to happen”... I’m a hot mess... just like this Picture. Trying to be put together but all over the place. Rant over... I’m probably stressing because I also have 8 Assignments due for my college semester for tomorrow... nice 😩. . . . . #2ndbeta #hcglevels #pregnant #pregnancyanxiety #10dp5dt #Beta #IVF #FET #Stickybaby #blastocyst #frozenembryotransfer #frozenembryo #Rainbowbaby #infertility #ivfjourney #ivfsupport #ivfcommunity #ivfsuccess #ivfpregnancy #Pcos #maleinfertility #Azoospermia #pcoswarrior #BabyDust #bereavedmother #Infantloss #PregnancyLoss #pregnantafterloss
IVF Tips- Avoid Low Glycemic Index Foods, Alcohol and Caffeine. The glycemic index (GI) is a ranking system to classify foods depending on how easily they are digested by the body. Lower the GI, the slower they are digested, thereby ensuring a gradual yet steady supply of energy. This is crucial for maintaining healthy blood glucose levels and reducing weight. Legumes, whole grains, low-fat dairy products, broccoli, sweet potato and mushrooms are some of the foods in this category. Processed foods and their associated oils and sugars have a high GI and are bad for the body. I think this gorgeous couple and their two sweet sweet miracle babies (one in the way!) have been one of my favorite shoots of the year! Still time left for a mini JUST-in-TIME Holiday shoot. DM me for details. 🎄🎁 This sweet family reminded of the sweet blessing and gift it is, even in the sleepless nights, or potty training and all that is to come, what a blessing it is to have two sweet little ones! And also can we just pause at how breathtaking this mama and her hubby are! #flagstaffphotographer #dallastx #miraclebaby #naturalbeauty #ivf #maternityphotography
My No.1 tip for expecting Mumma Bears. . Hi Dr @catherinebrownacupuncture here. So many inductions in the clinic at the moment. . Other than using acupuncture to induce & aid in progressing labor. . My number 1. tip for expectant Mumma bear’s close to their “due date” is to make their partner the Gatekeeper with all well meaning family, friends & mother in-laws! . This can be done effectively & easily by sending a group text stating something along the lines of: . “Thank you for your support & concern. We appreciate your understanding that I require this time to focus inwardly with calmness, quietness & rest without distraction to prepare for the arrival of our new addition. Please contact “Insert partner’s name”, they will keep you all updated, as I will not be responding to texts etc at the moment. Thank you for your understanding. . That’s it! This will be your first act of parenthood for your cub, establishing boundaries for your wellbeing, eliminating distractions & transferred anxiety from your friends & family. . When I make this suggestion I immediately see my Mumma’s entire body soften & relax!
It’s Easy to Forget Support Is Available, Especially When We’re so Weighted Down by Our Own Struggle Can happiness be defined? I was recently reminded that happiness can be found when we lean on each other. After a period of feeling buried beneath an ongoing health struggle, it was the voices from others enduring similar trials that ultimately aided my recovery. On a seemingly normal summer day, I noticed that a distinct pain had developed in my lower abdomen/pelvic region. After brushing off the discomfort in an attempt to get on with my busy day, my roommate found me curled up on the couch that night in audible discomfort. She sat with me as I described my symptoms and speculated possible causes. Cramps? Cyst? Regardless, she said, you should see a doctor. Rather than rush to a doctor, I persisted through my day and hoped the pain would go away. But my futile optimism yielded a sleepless night spent browsing the web for answers. The next day, I visited a clinic. This will be nothing, I told myself. Women are always dealing with these kinds of hassles, it will clear up. Instead, what ensued was a challenging, tedious quest to identify and treat my pain. The process became a blur of waiting rooms and physicians, ultrasounds and blood tests, pain medications and at-home remedies, and the increasingly difficult exercise of ignoring my discomfort while trying to move on with life. I ❤️summer! If not for the gloriously warm weather making it easier to get outside and be active, it's for the summer fruits🍒🍑🥭🍍🥝🍉 A friend of mine spends her time researching the health benefits of cherries. Did you know that eating cherries regularly has been shown to reduce inflammation and oxidative stress? Given the role of inflammation and oxidative stress in infertility, choosing fruits high in antioxidants and polyphenols is a great way to improve your fertility! #fertilegut #antioxidants #TTC #infertility #fertility #microbiota #microbiome #IVF #PCOS #endometriosis #miscarriage #naturalfertility #fertilityscience #provenscience #fertilityexpert #fertilityfacts #preconception #naturalfertility #fertilitydiet #fertilitysupport #fertilityjourney #fertilitytips #tryingtoconceive #ttccommunity #ttcsupport #drkitic #theivfproject #infertilitycommunity #exerciseismedicine #unexplainedinfertility
