4 years ago on my birthday, I made the decision to do vsg. It was a major milestone. It was both a mental breakthrough that I was ready but also like a giving up moment. It’s hard to explain how defeated one feels before making the decision to do wls. The moment of acceptance that one can’t sustain weightloss on their own and needsto take a drastic measure. For years I had yo-yo’ed but always ended up higher than I started on a diet to lose weight. I tried so many things. I failed. But my health declining with my weight gain was undeniable. Diabetes, erractic pulse, high blood pressure, sciatica, knee issues and chest pains pushed me over the edge to desperation. None of my health issues struck out of nowhere. It was a few years of progressive health issues piling up. Until the chest pains and the sober reality that I could go to a grave early and leave my kids motherless. That was catalyst for change: my kids. On the second photo, me on the left. I’m smiling but was broken inside. It was on that day, at that birthday dinner that I made my choice to do vsg. Thank god I did. Out of the mental defeat and surrender to the fact that I needed help came my transformation. The photo on the left wasn’t anything special. It was this week. I continue taking that full body photo on the regular for my compare and contrast photos to remind myself how far I’ve really come. But on the right, I can tell you this. I live life to its fullest these days. I made the right choice. And every birthday, I’m reminded how much life is truly a blessing. It will be the best gift I ever gave myself. I have no regrets. The countdown app in your phone is set. You have exactly 8 weeks until you have your toes in the water & your ass in the sand. It’s day 1 of your diet. You do a quick juice cleanse detox for 5 days because (duh, “boost” that metabolism). Then it’s all vegetables & protein (because bread will make you fat and fat… well that’ll make you fat too). And don’t even THINK about missing a day of cardio because that will set you WAY off track. . Sound familiar? . It doesn’t matter if was a vacation or a big event, we have ALL done it. . I’ve gone to my fitness company annual conferences and starved myself for weeks. I’ve gone on vacation to our private little tide pool and starved myself for weeks. Why? Because someone may look past me while checking out whatever is behind me and I immediately assume that they’re doing giving me the up down and judging me in my swimsuit? Or how dare she not look as fit as fucking possible while she’s here? . That’s right, I said - looking past me. Because guess what? Most people aren’t even looking AT you or talking ABOUT you. I promise. And if they are, they’re probably wondering the exact same thing about you that you’re thinking about them #DietMindsThinkAlike. . Ladies, it is not worth it. Because starving yourself for that vacation or that event to “look your best in the cutest little crop top and flowy skirt” you just bought doesn’t fucking matter after you have binged on everything in sight on day 1 and your body is like WOAH hold up and you spend the rest of the week feeling terrible, swollen, and bloated (and promising yourself you’ll start over once you get home). . If you can give me some reason in the comments that you’ve done this that does NOT somehow reflect your body image or outward appearance please do. . If not, PLEASE stop starving yourself for that vacation or that event. You’ll thank me later.

Good Morning. ⠀ I have been a terrible and absent person lately. However, I have had some serious depression, anxiety and stress going on lately. My classes have begun and it’s been a struggle this past week. My job thinks I don’t want to be working there and well depression makes you think worse about things. I’ve been struggling with my sanity lately. I’ve maintained my weight and haven’t lost or gained any. So it’s a good a bad thing. My wedding dress is now in and I’m afraid I won’t be fitting in it so, as you can tell I’m freaking and stressing. Today is the day I’m needing to change that. I’m working on bettering myself it’s much easier said than done. I’m so open to wanting to help myself and wanting to love myself. I want to feel beautiful like I once did. ⠀ As I sit on the porch this morning with the lovely autumn air, I feel a sense of relaxation. This is the feeling I want to have for the rest of my days. Burning 500 calories walking is going to impact your weight more than a 300 calorie run. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But here’s the thing - that’s only from a technical perspective.
