When we want to change we tend to believe that we have to change instantly, changing everything we want to change all at once. The extreme diets spring to mind, severely restricting food to drop weight. We immediately want to build muscle, immediately want to get stronger, to get fitter or learn something new. Even when feeling a certain way mentally, we believe it to be wrong and think complete change must be instant. This can lead us to the point where we convince ourselves that anything less than 100% is no progress towards where we want to be and it's simply not the case. ​. ​. ​Instead I encourage both in my own thinking and with the people I work with, to put 100% into the 1%. Dedicating 1% each and every day to improving and working towards the person you want to be. This could relate to any goal. Learn a little more about what you want to do in life, make a small positive step to improve mental health, begin to plan steps on your next career move, seek some advice from a mentor that will help you progress, lift a little more weight in todays gym session, get that additional rep or improve technique on a lift. ​. ​. ​Momentum, dedication, consistency and being realistic with what you want to is how real change is made and we can do this by working to simply get stronger in any aspect of your life by 1% daily. It might not seem much now but those 1% improvements will compound and you'll soon see yourself making steady, consistent progress to your overall goal. Wow, the amount of messages i have received and conversations I’ve had today about yesterday’s raising boys talk! Obviously it’s a hot topic! I wrote a blog post which you can check out via the link in my profile. To summarise what I wrote on the blog and in my stories about yesterday’s talk and the 4 main messages he spoke about (which sound obvious yes but listening to the talk was very insightful and I highly recommend it or his book) 1. Spend time with your kids. Give them your attention. 2. Rough and tumble play is really important for boys and teaches them physical boundaries and when enough is enough. 3. Boys are allowed to have feelings. 4. Boys need to be taught how to respect women and it starts at home with the way their fathers (or the men in their lives) treat their mothers. There’s a soft spot in the soul for moments spent with a cuppa and a mag. Since starting Consciousness and wanting to raise my own consciousness of positive, uplifting, empowering content to engage with, I have found a number of magazines that have taken wellness, well-being and holistic health to a whole new level with STUNNING content, and @ora is no exception. It comes in both a printed and digital edition that you can purchase online, or if you’re lucky enough to live near one of their handful of stockists then you get to have a beautiful hardcopy in your hand in seconds. Having just read their 2nd Issue Resilience, I was blown away with the quality, presentation, and sense of relaxation and safety I felt reading it. Now that may sound weird, but think about your typical gals gossip mag – what’s it got in it? Not a lot of nourishing content! When you stop subjecting your epic brain to things that don’t nourish you, you’ll find a lot more time to reflect on how epic you truly are. So much kudos to the Ora team for the beauty you are producing. It shakes up the space with meaningful, impactful and honest content – something we could all do with a little bit more of ❤️🌏
